Well, I finally taken the plunge and bought a Juicer of E-bay (a new Jack La Lenne Power Juicer Express, which has good reviews)and was a right bargain at just over £50(incl. p&p)
I am hoping to get more Fruit and veg into myself aswell as the Kids (who used to eat veg fine but are going through one of those not eating phase)...!
There is a recipe book with it, and also got myself one of Jason Vales book, and had a look at plenty of Website, found plenty of good recipes, etc...!
Anyway, anyone a avid Juicer and any hints and tips for success?
Thank you!

Another thread on juicing today, with some suggestions

Lmccrean · 12/03/2007 21:13

Ohhh, I saw the innocent smoothie book in dds playgroup today - looked good

3andnomore · 13/03/2007 09:27

Beetroot, and how did you get on wiht that?
I assume probably right that you need more then the ordinary juicing ingredients of fruit/veg...? He seems to have some stuff on the website, weird and wonderful stuff....can't even remember the names...!
I assume at that 7Ibs in 7 days diet all you have is juice, full stop?
thanks Jackieno, for the link to the other thread.
Lmcrean...haven't seen that book....does sound lovely though!

got on well - lost 5 pounds. felt helathy and have carried on healty eating.

there a re just a few supplememnts that i had to buy - wheat grass (went to local ji=uice bar for daily shot.

spirulina - not cheap but buy tablets and you can carry onusing htem after.

3andnomore · 13/03/2007 14:41

wheatgrass, is that the wheatgerm stuff then?

In a way I would be interested in this diet, as it would be a good way to detox, I would think, and obviously some of the lost weight would be water, but it never harms to cleanse out the system, eh!

no it is a grass

I lost 5 lbs adn have kept it off over a week later - you don't want to put crap back in your body.

3andnomore · 14/03/2007 19:13

sounds really good, am going to bid on the 7Ibs in 7 days book on E-bay and also some others...!
Looked a bit around teh Internet, and I found some sites which sell that wheatgrass stuff for a bettter price, and the same with spirulina, even found a site that sells acoy powder, too...!
Once I got the Juicer (it hasn't arrived yet ) and the Book/Books...I shall give it a whirl...but will first Juice a bit for fun and get used to it!
With that 7Ibs in 7 days, do you purely drink juice or do you have meals aswell?

3andnomore · 15/03/2007 13:39

Beetroot, still waiting for that Juicer...I know, it's not been that long, but I am getting so impatient now...I am like a Kid in that way...want it here and NOW, lol...but I received that The Juicemansters Ultimate Fast food Book htis morning and am a quarter through and wow the guy talks sense...lol...but the cover of the book is sooo cheesey, lol!
Am gonna bid on some other of his books on E-bay, so, hopefully will also get that 7Ibs/7days book that way...by that time I am hoping that darn Juicer is here, lol!
Whilest you did your Juicing week , did you feel hungry or like you missed out?

When you read hi s book you realsie that it will be fine - yes a tiny pit hungry for the first couple of days - I would cut down on coffee before hand so you don't suffer the horrid headaches

3andnomore · 16/03/2007 21:02

Beetroot...I wonder if teh &Ibs in 7 days has similarity with the 28 (I think) day fast/detox he describes in the fast food book...!
With the detox think you go wihtout food for 2 days, and just have water with a slice of lemon or lime (5L of it) and then you start building up to some Juice and less water, and then yoy go to food (only certian ones) and Juice and the main juice this detox features is a Veg juice with like all sorts and a bit of everything in it...before I embark on tha programme I will have to try that Juice first, lol...as it really doesn't sound to appealing. Also on that detox one it's Vegg Juices (soemtimes wiht apple base) that you are allowed to drink.

Anyways, got my Juicer today and jumped straight in Did a jummy fruit-one,w ith some carrots in it...mixture of juiced and blended fruit...and tongiht I did one with fennel in it (think without celery it would have been nicer...loved the fennel taste though...but do love aniseed, so, makes sense)...the Juice did look rather unappealing, but was very drinkable..and like I said, without celery it would have been truely yummy I think...but it really surprised me...was a bit dubious about veg juice, lol!
The Juicer is really easy to use, which is brill...but think it helped that I had read half of JV's book, lol...as he gives some handy tips on how to reduce the cleaning up, etc...!
Sorry, am rambling, lol...am truely excited aboiut all this...it's like a whole new world out there...lol...

the 7 day juice idet is jjuices form day one -

glitterfairy · 17/03/2007 08:53

I am on day 6 (smug emoticon) and have loved this diet. My Dd 12 is doing it as well and although she is moaning (it was her choice and I keep saying she can come off it if she likes) she is not hungry for the first time ever. She is amazed that she doesnt want to snack in the evenings.

I have lost shed loads of weight and she is losing the correct amount for her age. She is slim anyway and wanted to do this for a flat stomach adn to feel healthier. I have been doing the exercise as wel adn think that is the secret.

I am looking forward to food but crave fish, veggies and rice and have cancelled my easter egg. We have always juiced and have a juice for breakfast every day.

3andnomore · 17/03/2007 13:33

Well, this Juicing is sooo much fun
This morning I did a pineapple concotion wiht yoghurt, and lots of other fruits aswell as the pineapple.
And with lunch I had a pint of a similar juice that I did yesterday, but without celery and much nicer it was, lol....never been a fan of celery anyway, can just about cope with it in a soup, lol!
THe 7Ibs 7 days, is that fruitjuices and veg juices or just vegjuices?
Sorry, just trying to work out if it will be worth buying the book, or if I should just try to do my juicing within my WW eating plan, lol!
