DH has brought home a whole coconut to show DS the real fruit behind the coconut yoghurts he so loves.
Can I just grate the flesh and add it to desserts/curries as I would dessicated coconut? Or does it require special treatment?

Yeah, you can just grate it. Although I've never put it in anything - it's really tasty just as it is, frankly.

Thank you.
Unfortunately the children didn't like it as is and nor do I. DH does, but won't be able to eat the whole thing on his own.
Any idea how long it keeps for once it has been cut open?

Great idea! Except that we hit it with the axe to get it open and it's in bits now!
