Cheese Recommendations

I've discovered a passion for cheese (Lord help my waist) and I'm after ideas of cheeses to try. I'm not keen on soft stinky cheeses like Bree and Cambenburt, but I do like strong cheeses. Can anyone suggest anything for me to try?

Do you like blue cheeses?

although I love Cheshire and Lancashire - local cheese all the way!

apart from Roquefort

NutterlyUts · 10/03/2007 16:34

I've never tried them. I'm willing to try almost anything, so all recommendations wanted please

Right, here's a few
Lincolnshire Poacher - like a strong, sweet cheddar
Berkeswell - hard sheeps cheese, really nice
Manchego - spanish cheese, most supermarkets have it

enjoy!

Head off to a really good local deli and ask to sample some of their cheeses -the best way of finding some real gems!

Supermarket deli counters are also happy to cut bits off for you to try too but they are often more limited in their selection ( ie. 101 cheddars! !)

We had a gorgeous smoked cheddar recently (can't remember the name I'm afraid).

Blacksticks is fab and an award winner and now they sell it in Tesco!

Do you have a frmer's market near you?

They are great places to try cheeses and find out what sort you like.

One of my favourites is the Black Lancashire Bomb from the Shorrocks farm. have a look at this website gorgeous!

Brie and Camembert have always been stinky when my mum's tried to force them on me.. Apparently thats the best way to eat them?
