Would this be suitable for a 2.2 year old? or is he too young?

My ds never used to do this but lately he keeps getting things out the fridge throughout the day to eat. I tell him not to help himself and to ask first but sometimes he still just helps himself.

Its only things like a banana or yogurt etc, not things that ruins his dinners.

Do you think the mini fridge would suit him or is this too much freedom for a youngster?

It would stop him going in the proper fridge and i can control what is in there and he can eat when he gets hungry

what do you think?

My kids have pretty unlimited access to the fruit bowl, so a little fridge isn't so different. It would make him feel very grown up, too!

I don't like the idea - I think 2.2 is too young for him to have control of how much and when he eats, even though as you say you will control what is in there.
Also, it might not stop him going in the main fridge after all, either because he wants what is in the big fridge or because he wants to be like the grownups and use the same fridge as him. Couldn't you just put a fridge lock on the big fridge?

I had one on there but he ripped it off so i gave up with the whole lock idea.

keep the kitchen door shut?

i think this is one of these cases where you just have to keep telling him over and over again

be consistent and he will get the message

do you ahve a fruit bowl

juicychops · 05/03/2007 15:52

no, i keep all the fruit in the fridge as it used to go mouldy in the fruit bowl.

My house is too tiny to keep the kitchen door shut as the kitchen is half the downstairs!
