I would peel, cook, puree and freeze, then use in smoothies, ice cream, cooking?

You can make cakes with fresh pear, too.

Thanks. Have recipes for chutney, pear and ginger cake and pear pudding but that only uses about a third of them!!

I think I've made up and frozen crumble. Pear crumble is very nice.

This pear bread looks nice - that site is good for finding recipes of this sort.

what about poaching them , some in vanilla , muscat syrup and some in wine , put them sterilised jars and keep aside as Xmas gifts. OH and eat some with ice cream .

Mmmmm getting hungry after HUGE tea!

Pear bread looks good and will freeze, crumble sounds good too - DH drooling now too

Think the chutney will use up my jar supply but poaching and just eating them will probably be done!

Thanks everyone.

Have you got a baby?

We had a pear tree with DD was a baby. I pureed and froze as many as I could so she ate them for months.

Baby now 16 mths so will be eating pear bread/pudding/cake/etc with the rest of us, actually will probably be eating MUCH more than his fussy big sister
