Quick Wine Advice (tempted to name change ...)

Ok, we like Rose d'Anjou. I know it's rubbish. But we like it. We've not had a Rose d'Anjou that we didn't like. (What do we like about it? Quaffable, light, fairly sweet. Not much tannin. Yes, we are philistines, how could you tell?)

Helpfully, Ocado doesn't seem to be stocking the Waitrose Rose d'Anjou any more.

Would any of the following be like Rose d'Anjou?

  • Italia Pinot Grigio Rose
  • Ch de Caraguilhes Organic Corbieres Rose, France
  • Chateau d'Aqueria Tavel Rose 'Les Vallognes'
  • Cuvee Fleur VdP Rose
  • E & J Gallo White Zinfandel, California
  • E&J Gallo Sierra Valley White Grenache-California
  • Fetzer Syrah Rose
  • Firebird Legend Merlot Rose Vulcaneshti, Moldova
  • Flichman Malbec/Shiraz Rose
  • Foncaussade Bergerac Rose
  • Jacobs Creek Shiraz Rose
  • Kendermanns Rose QbA Rheinhessen
  • La Chapelle Cotes du Rhone Rose France
  • Le Clos du Bourg Vouvray Heut, Loire
  • Montgras Zinfandel Rose
  • Muga Rioja Rosado
  • Nagyrede Cabernet Sauvignon Rose, Hungary
  • Rose de Garrigues 2004
  • Stoneleigh Pinot Noir Rose
  • Torres San Medin Caberenet Rose

I am inclined towards the Zinfandels, as I think they are to our taste?

Order one of each and try!!!!

zippitippitoes · 02/03/2007 17:42

if it was me i would try the torres one and the les vallognes

but it's not my style of wine!

Nockney · 02/03/2007 17:43

One of each!

Um, I should probably explain, we maybe get through a bottle of wine per week. Maybe. Probably a lot less.

I would go for the pinot grigio or the Loire one. Tavel and other southern French and the Spanish ones will be heavier than you want.

Carmenere · 02/03/2007 17:43

Try the Pinot Grigot or the Zinfandel.

massagemum · 02/03/2007 17:43

I have drunk rose d'angu before and i think that the closest and nicest is the e & J (both are pretty similar to be honest)

saltire · 02/03/2007 17:44

Zinfandel, it's pretty similar. the E&J grenache is a bit drier

zippitippitoes · 02/03/2007 17:47

the ones I picked are probably the onmes you would like least i should have said

Nockney · 02/03/2007 17:48

Zippi, I would have guessed that. And I thought 'it's not my style of wine' was a polite way of saying 'your taste is shite'.
