looking for plain, organic, additive-free porridge/cereal

Anyone know where I can buy plain, additive-free, organic porridge or other cereal? Heinz Organic has sugar in it; Cow & Gate has sugar + maltodextrin; Organix only seem to make fruit-flavoured varieties.

I've been looking for finely-milled organic oats instead of baby products, but can't find them anywhere either - even the health-food shops only seem to have organic whole oats, or non-organic oatmeal.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

I'm pretty sure I used a Baby Organix pure oat porridge. I get excellent porridge-style Milupa baby muesli from the health shop (but it's got wheat in it) that has no additives, milk powder, etc. Have you tried Hipp Organic ? It can be quite difficult to get some of their range.

I haven't visited either of these sites in ages, or bought baby food other than the muesli, so I don't know what is still current.

Have you tried Infinity, most health food/organic shops carry that brand.

I also recommend Hipp Organic.

Peter Rabbit Organics makes 100% corn Cornflakes for babies 12 months+. their website is www.buxtonfoods.com

Do you have a coffee grinder? I buy the organic flakes (millet and rice as not on oats yet) from the health food shop and grind them to a powder. Makes lovely creamy porridge. I know this is impractical advice if you don't have a grinder.

Can you get oat flour from the health food shop ... would that not be the same?

Just joined Mumsnet and found your thread - I had exactly the same problem! You may well have tracked down some by now but if not I've found Beechnut Baby Foods make a lovely range called Beechnut Naturals - pure oat, rice or barley cereals. They're an American company but you can buy their products here, I tracked down some retailers by calling their UK distributor Empire Food Brokers on 0208 537 4080. My daughter just loves them. Hope that helps!

I used to make up porridge with whole oats and then stick the hand blender in to 'chop' it up fine - it worked a treat. I always found that using fine oatmeal resulted in too gluey a porridge. However, Golspie Mill do organic medium oatmeal - stockists are in Scotland but they do bulk mail order to elsewhere.
