And if so how long would it take? Oven will be on for backed potatoes anyway...

I'd start it on the hob to fry the onions and brown the mince but then I don't see why you couldn't stick the tomatoes and beans with it in a casserole and put it in the oven, as long as oven wasn't too hot

Yes, that was the plan moomin. I'll have it at 180 for the potatoes for about an hour and a half.

Would that be about right?

I wouldn't but don't know why

MrsBadger · 26/02/2007 14:40

Yes, I throw everything in and then bake on 180degC for 40mins

Spagblog · 26/02/2007 14:42

Oh, mine is veggie - so yes...Brown the mince first!

Flower3554 · 26/02/2007 14:44

I do this all the time. A word of caution though, use a non stick dish if you can otherwise you will have to keep taking it out and stirring it.

Moomin · 26/02/2007 18:12

If you were going to put it in for that long I wouldn't add the kidney beans until about 25 mins til the end or they'll go mushy and stick to the sides.

But you're probably sat eating it right now anyway because I'm a bit late with this suggestion......

i use this jamie oliver oven recipe
had it tonight - always a favourite......

I fried the onion and browned the mince, then added the rest of the ingredients, except peppers and beans, Transferred to a casserole. Oven for 30 mins then added peppers and beans and then a further 30 mins.

went down very well with the baked potatoes and green salad
