After the crisp debate I wondered what you healthy type guys make your kids eat in a day (just being nosey really!!)

DD is 4 next week and her diet yesterday was:

2 slices of wholemeal toast with strawberry jam
1 bag of grapes
1 bag of chocolate buttons (from party bag)
1 buttered scone
2 sticks of celery
I stick of Pex Sweets
4 pieces of low fat garlic bread
1 large bowl of pasta with meat and tomato sauce
1 large bowl of strawberries with plain bio yogurt
2 small bottles of water and 2 of squash and a carton of milk at school

We are the 'eat everything in moderation' type of family where Dd is concerned. Yesyerday was a nursery day so most meals were there:

Whole milk Yoghurt
Slice of toast
Sheherd's Pie (home made by nursery cook)
Vegetables
Banana Custard
3 pieces of pizza (nursery tes)
Fruit
Sausage at home (we had fish and chips - late night finish, so DH got her it from chip shop)
Bread
Organic biscuit
Hot chocolate
Water
Ribena Tooth-kind Blackcurrant juice
Fruit salad and half fat creme fresh, with a bit of daddy's meringue nest

Monday's was a bit better, not at nursery:

1 slice of Eggy Bread, with whole grain bread
2 Whole milk yoghurt
Some of my grapefruit
Dried raisins and apricots
Pasta with cheese sauce (packet as rubbish at making it fresh ) with mushrooms, corn, tuna and peppers added
Chicken drumstick (she won't eat the breat meat!)
2 slices of bread
Cucumber and tomatoes
2 organic biscuits
Hot chocolate
Water, Ribena Tooth Kind, P&J Smoothie drink
Some of daddy's Naan bread
Carved Ham
Half a bread roll

ritz biscuits

2 yogurts each
a packet of WOTSITS each

2 yogurts each again

they only tend to drink milk and water

Afternoon snack is banana or slice of cheese and cup of milk

katzguk - my DD loves corn on the cob, has done for ever really. But she looks so funny with it. We have little cob holders to make it easier for her.

WideWebWitch · 23/06/2004 11:43

Oh well, I've got to post here really haven't I, since I banged on so much on the other thread! OK, ds, aged 6.5yo had:

Breakfast: Scrambled organic eggs on organic toast with organic tomato ketchup and a big glass of apple juice

Lunch:
Peanut butter sandwiches, 2 satsumas, an apple, 2 small packs of raisins, a fromage frais yoghurt, some brazil and pistachio nuts

Supper:
watermelon, mango, organic pasta with organic green beans, organic carrots, organic peas and organic tomato sauce. Apple juice.

Then a small bar of chocolate. I felt bad after posting yesterday and really wondered whether I'm a bit mean about treats. Like I said, I won't let him have absolute crap (hydrogenated oils etc) but I don't mind chocolate etc sometimes. But I probably am creating a beast who will eat nothing but junk the minute he leaves home oh well, I will have set him up ok though I hope.

Twinkie · 23/06/2004 11:43

Where did you get your holders from - DD loves COTC but we have nightmares with skewers!!

littlemissbossy · 23/06/2004 11:44

ds 3.5 ate
breakfast:
2x yoghurts
1x banana
mid morning break at nursery:
juice and biscuit
lunch:
slice of bread and butter
cheddar cheese
cucumber and tomato
grapes plus only a few crisps
afternoon snack:
gingerbread man
tea:
roast pork
mashed potato
carrots
brocolli
strawberries plus a few chocolate buttons

quite healthly, only problem being when I say "a few" it usually means I eat the rest

not sure where our holders came from but think that wolworths might be worth a look.

Hula we've been buying the half one which she will eat all of and thinks the holders are great

JanZ · 23/06/2004 12:18

Yesterday ds (3.9) had
Beaker of milk in bed with us
Glass of ?freshly squeezed? orange juice, cornflakes and half a slice of toast for breakfast.
Don?t know what he has at the childminders ? I believe he has more toast when he goes through (house next door), and he talks about macaroni and fish fingers ? and as I don?t give them to him, assume he gets them next door! The childminder does tell me that he?s not keen on his veg! (unlike when he was a baby)
After 5.30, he had 2 or 3 fromage frais/yoghurts, cracker and primula and then ds took him over to his aunt?s, where he had a poke of McDonald?s chips and a Fruit Shoot, ignoring the nuggets (she happened just to have been to McDonald?s ? ds only gets one about every 1-2 months, if that)
Before he goes to bed he usually has a glass of milk and a biscuit ? usually Rich tea but sometimes a Jaffa Cake.

We don?t manage to get much fruit in to him ? he goes through phases of eating ?weeties? (raisins), will sometimes eat loads of strawberries or grapes, decide he wants a banana etc.

He also goes through phases of loving ham.

We?ve managed to encourage him to eat peas by allowing him ketchup into which he dips each pea.

If it were up to him, he?d live on a diet of cornflakes, ?yokkas? (yoghurt/fromage frais), ?cow? cheese (cheese triangles from Lidl), crackers spread with primula, rich tea biscuits spread with Gold (his own invention), toast or croissants 9which he loves), coke (which he is allowed as an occasional treat), chimmies (aka crisps) ? which again he is only allowed as an occasional treat, ditto chocolate buttons, and weeties (raisins) when he feels like it.

Provided we restrict the crisps, coke and chocolate buttons, it?s not TOO bad a diet. Yes, I?d like him to eat more fruit and veg ? but many mums think that!

I give him a multi-vitamin to make up

webmum · 23/06/2004 12:34
