After the crisp debate I wondered what you healthy type guys make your kids eat in a day (just being nosey really!!)

DD is 4 next week and her diet yesterday was:

2 slices of wholemeal toast with strawberry jam
1 bag of grapes
1 bag of chocolate buttons (from party bag)
1 buttered scone
2 sticks of celery
I stick of Pex Sweets
4 pieces of low fat garlic bread
1 large bowl of pasta with meat and tomato sauce
1 large bowl of strawberries with plain bio yogurt
2 small bottles of water and 2 of squash and a carton of milk at school

DD1 and 2 had for breakfast:
toasted muffin with butter and ham
Milk for DD1, Diluted fresh OJ for DD2.
snack for DD1 was milk and an organic yog
Snack for DD2 was water and grapes
School Lunch for DD1 was: chicken cass, new pots, carrots followed by chocolate mousse
Nursery lucnh was for DD2: Tuna pasta bake, peas, jam pudd and custard
Afterschool snack for DD1 was water, bananna, half an apple and a soft white roll with marmite
Nursery tea for DD2 was: spaghetti hoops, chicken nuggets, yogurt and an orange plus water.
Supper for both was: homemade lasagne, salad (of which they ate a bit). No pudd as not hungry
Before bed they both had a mug of cocoa (the traditional kind not hot chocolate).

seems a lot of food when I review it.
DD1 normally only has fruit as anafterschool snack but she had the marmite roll as she had a swimmimg lesson to go to ( and she did swim 18 lengths!)
DD2 does have a nursery tea but also sits down with us to eat our evening meal together. How much she eats is dpwn to how much nursery tea she eats!

codswallop · 23/06/2004 13:13

Mine ate quavers all day

Fio2 · 23/06/2004 13:15

quavers for breakfast
mcdonalds for lunch
kebab and chips for tea

marialuisa · 23/06/2004 13:15

dd 3y4m scoffed:

one homemade strawberry smoothie
one piece of brown toast with butter and marmite

at school:
glass of waterx3
apple
roast beef, carrots, boiled potatoes, sweetcorn and gravy
apple crumble and custard
banana

after school:
waterx5
tortilla with aubergine, peppers, mushroom, courgette, tomatoes (any odd bits in the fridge really), herb salad and ketchup
strawberries and raspberries with a spoon of clotted cream

School dinners are "homemade" rather than mass catering so I'm happy with that. They also provide a piece of fruit and milk/water at both morning and afternoon break

Well Coddy I remember because there's only one of her and the school sends the lunch menu home every week.

and whilst you as a mum of 3 may scoff (ha,ha) at her very careful healthy diet as a mum of 1 it would actually create work if I started feeding her chicken nuggets and beans because there's no way me or DH would want to eat that so I'd be cooking separate meals, causing more stress and washing up. She has what we have and because I grew up with a mother who thinks microwave roast dinners are a wonderful invention there's no way I'm inflicting that stuff on anyone else, even if I could eat myself without gagging.

Piffleofagus - you mentioned you are trying to give your dd high cal foods as she is low weight. My ds is not gaining weight and we are seeing a dietician on sat. You mentioned her metabolism - just interested in what you have to do to plump her up!

WideWebWitch · 23/06/2004 13:29

at beetroot, Coddy and Fairyfly. I remember what ds had because I made all of 'em. But the cheese, that wasn't from Ecuadorian foothills Coddy, it was from a quaint organic farm in Somerset

Fio2 · 23/06/2004 13:29

Grommit my dd was put on a high fat diet when she was 2. we were also given high fibre supplement drinks which were called Fortini's. It worked. Also they have to drink alot of MILK
