...that seemed a bit odd..

is it really the case a child would be better off in care because of weight

there must have to be real strong issues too surely?

and should 8 year olds be boxing?

some parents for a number of reasons overfeed children which is a form of abuse so there would be a more serious reason than just weight I would imagine, if boxing was teh only activity he would participate in then yes the cons of boxing probable are outweighed by the benefits of positive activity

it must be hard to tell if abuse or ignorance very subjective

it's an interesting principle - if you make a child ill/endanger their health by your parenting, whether it is malicious or not, surely it is at least neglect?

lulumama · 23/02/2007 20:44

surely would be much much better and preferable to educate the whole family about nutrition and take the child into care as an absolute last resort?

gothicmama · 23/02/2007 20:45

that is what should happen lulu

hi lulu..been in reflective mode only glanced at mn occasionally..been thinking about the meaning of life

if a child is obese because of over feeding in my mind it must be down to ignorance/lack of education

agree zippi..which can be tackled without taking the child away

have you come up with any interesting theories whilst reflecting?

gothicmama · 23/02/2007 22:12

not necessarily it can be a sign of mental distress in the parent
