Is every flour that you buy self raising or will it actually say 'self raising flour'?

It will say so. Either that, or it'll probably say Plain.

There are others - like Strong flour, for instance. But if you want SR, it'll say it on the packet.

so if it says plain there is no way it will rise? Sorry wanted to bake some fairy cakes but have a feeling i dont have the right flour!!!!

Plain plus baking powder = s/r flour

say 9oz plain flour plus 3 tsps baking powder

dont think i have baking powder either so i think i shall have to give it a miss
