Is there some magic ingredient I can add, like lemon juice? how much??

I'd love to be able to make a fruit salad at night for breakfast in morning...

Thank you wonderful Nigella-esque people

only the bananas go brown, what else do you put in?

We make a big batch of fruit salad and keep it in a lidded tub in the fridge - reckon it lasts four days (possibly more!). Put fruit juice in (eg apple juice) and keep a lid on it. We put bananas in but they do go quite mushy (but I like them like that!)

I tend to add a splashh of orange juice, seems to help keep it fresh.

Miaou · 15/02/2007 21:26

Make sure you put enough juice in to completely cover the fruit, then it won't go brown.

I not overly keen on orange juice, never thought of apple juice.
Fruit varies but teh usual.. apples pears, kiwi, mango, grapes, grapefruit whatever is in fruit bowl really...

Apple juice is nice because the taste isn't overpowering and not too acidic (I have a problem with acid and a sore tongue!)

clayre · 15/02/2007 21:31

should'nt go brown, i never add fruit juice, but then it doesn't last long here and i thought the friut juice was just for the banana!

MascaraOHara · 15/02/2007 21:38

thank you will.. maybe goes brown because I use cling film over bowl rather tahn tupperware?
