Have just made a cake but made way too much buttercream to use all on the cake. just wondering if anyone knows if you can keep buttercream and if so how and how long for? Basically would it last until i can be bothered to make more cakes 2mora?

I have frozen it in the past. It should certainly keep in the fridge for as long as the butter would have I would say.

It should be fine til tomorrow. I've made cakes with buttercream on that haven't been eaten all on that day before and the buttercream (on the cake) has always been fine the next day, iyswim, so buttercream kept in the fridge overnight should be fine.

Thanks you guys, am starting to feel sick now as i started eating just the buttercream out of the bowl! Least i can blame it on being pregnant this time rather than me just havin a sweet tooth!!!
