Surely I can't be the first to notice this....?

Has anyone seen the new Annabel Karmel ready meal range in Sainsburys - called Eat Fussy .

While the range looks quite good (and I'm tempted to try it)... surely it's rather hypocritical for the woman who guilted us all into cooking from scratch and avoiding jars at all costs to be launching a range of ready meals?!

Well, if you can beat them...

DimpledThighs · 13/02/2007 19:54

I agree rubber duck - and I hate the name 'eat fussy' WTF!!!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 13/02/2007 19:55

looks too much like eat..(another word for fanjo) to me so id steer clear!

Scootergirl · 13/02/2007 19:56

Surely most youngsters "eat fussy" anyway without any help from Annabel Karmel... Only pink food is today's theme in the Scooter house

lulumama · 13/02/2007 19:56

RubberDuck · 13/02/2007 19:57

LOL Strawberry - hadn't noticed that, I'm going to be calling it the alternative name now every time I see it...

DimpledThighs · 13/02/2007 20:10

divamumplus · 13/02/2007 20:37

its politically wrong isnt it? all against the rules
wont buy jst beause i dont like the name

moondog · 13/02/2007 20:46

fUCKING UNREAL ISN'T IT??
sO MANY so called chefs peddle crap too.

I thought the most amusing nutrition related occurence recently was getting Lenny Henry in to present Slimming World (or similar prizes) and give a stirring speech.
Thefact that his wife is the size of a house is of no relevance then??

Good luck to AK.If people are stupid enough to need to be talked through mashing a carrot, theyt deserve to be fleeced.

I always wondered if Ainsley Harriott stood in his kitchen perfecting his range of dried powdered soups going:

"Mmmm. A little sprinkle of E554, and a smattering of E378 and voila! Perfecto"

moondog · 13/02/2007 20:54

Oh God,here we go.
Let's all pretend it's positively healthy to be the size of a garden shed.

moondog · 13/02/2007 20:54

Yes GOW
It's such crap.

Sheraz · 13/02/2007 20:56

lol moondog! Run for the hills you un PC doggy you!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 13/02/2007 20:56

Agree with you there, Moondog.

There is overweight, and there is morbidly obese. That is not normal and, lest we forget, the 'morbidly' bit of that statement should be heeded

moondog · 13/02/2007 20:58

And check out all that AK stuff, written in the first person singular.
Like she stands with a big spoon stirring it.

Stop trying to sell us crap!!!

And you numpties that buy it-shift yer arse and do a bit of bloody cooking for a change!

twoisplenty · 13/02/2007 20:59

A while ago the adverts showed that awful man (what's his name! you know the one with many accents that gets on everyone's nerves) cooking delicious pasta sauces. When I read the ingredients from the jar in the supermarket I hardly recognized any real food for the E numbers! It's all a con.
Oh what was his name??? I'll remember it in the middle of the night!

RubberDuck · 13/02/2007 21:00

Oh oh .... erm... gawd it's on the tip of my tongue... Lloyd Grossman?

OP posts:
moondog · 13/02/2007 21:01

Gross is the word.

twoisplenty · 13/02/2007 21:01

And all these pasta sauces usually start with tomatoes and add a bit of this and that. Well I can do that too! The ready made ones in a jar cost a fortune...

twoisplenty · 13/02/2007 21:01

YES! Thanks LLoyd Grossman - suits his name!

RubberDuck · 13/02/2007 21:03

The thing that always got me as a student were the mushroom pasta sauces - over a quid for a jar, when in the next aisle over you could buy tinned creamed mushrooms, which okay, were probably equivalent nutritionally, but were only about 20p! AND they tasted nicer.
