Soup - easy to make in advance,
Thai Green Chicken Curry - ditto
roast peaches with marsala and mascarpone - very easy.

personally i find steak and chips always puts my spouse in a very romantic mood! with some sort of delicious cold pudding you can make in advance and just get out of freezer after the main (like, um, parfait?) or lovely exotic fruit and some clotted cream....? actually i have a similar dilemma myself!

how about garlic mushrooms for starter, lasangne with side salad and homemade bannofee pie.I know a quick recipie which ive been meaning to try out:

Get two fancy desert bowls crush digestive biscuits and place in the bottom. Drizzle some toffee sauce on to top i was just going to but ice cream topping sauce unless you know how to make it. Slice banana on top of that and then which up either some double cream or just layer a huge helping of clotted cream on top. Drizzle with more toffee sauce to decorate.

Even quicker to cook is fresh pasta or gnocchi with a tub of fresh sauce in a spicier variety (or add your own.) Arrange it on the plate in a heap with the sauce drizzled around the edge like in a restaurant.
A slimming green soup would be a good starter, watercress, rocket or lettuce (yes lettuce soup is real!). You could make that really peppery too.
Hot fresh chocolate chip cookies (have them on the baking tray in the fridge ready to whack in the oven), a scoop of posh vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of fresh red fruit sauce/coulis.
