In-Laws coming for a week - need some ideas

help - my in-laws are staying with us for a week and I need some menu ideas - lunch and dinner. They only like traditional English food (ie meat and 2 veg) so unfortunately no pasta, pizza, rice, curries, spices etc are out It would drive me bonkers having a roast for dinner, and sarnies for lunch everyday. Any ideas for something more exciting?

Won't they cook for you some of the time?
Guess you'll have to fall back on Shepherds Pie, Fish Pie, Lamb Chops, Toad in Hole, Gammon with parsley sauce, baked salmon fillets, smoked haddock, etc etc. Lunch: soup? omlette with nice filling, smoked mackerel? Exciting doesn't really cover it, does it?

They sound like my In-laws!

What about Gammon steaks? I do them with a mashed potato concoction which makes it way more interesting:

Whilst potatos are on the boil fry some garlic, leeks and cabbage in a little olive oil. Add a sprinkle of nutmeg and handful of parsley (to taste). Once the potatos are ready mash them with load of butter and a splash of milk, salt & pepper to taste. Then mix in the leeks etc etc.... YUMMMMMMMY!

Steak and kidney pie
Fishcakes
Pan fried fish (eg salmon) with new potatoes and salad or veg
Salads in general with cold meat etc

Why not try them on some more adventurous things, for eg how can they dismiss ALL pasta? What about risotto - or how about kedgeree which is basically risotto but english version.

You never know they might just like it
