In this house, its brocolli, closely followed by green beans. They still have to eat them mind you, so tough really

Yes, in fairness I have to admit that mash of any sort is not top of the list at our house either. And we have the Mushroom Schism as well. Dd would happily eat nothing else, ds calls them toadstools and does the mad scene from Lucia every time we serve them. Great

foxinsocks · 05/02/2007 11:33

oh yes, dd won't touch mashed potato (in fact, took a while to get her to eat potato at all) - definitely a texture thing.

Piffle · 05/02/2007 11:34

ds - mushrooms, celery
dd - potatoes

Piffle · 05/02/2007 11:34

ds hates sprouts too he is 13 btw dd is 4 and loves spouts and mushrooms and most veg...

Marina · 05/02/2007 11:34

We were lucky (independent school FIS) to opt out of the LEA's scolarest contract some years ago apparently. I live in the borough that Jamie has been struggling to interest in proper food...

danceswithnewboots · 05/02/2007 11:35

ds won't eat ANY veg

Both dc were sick after being given mushed up avocados as babies (actually is that a fruit?)

Dinosaur · 05/02/2007 11:35

I've kind of gone off it myself, really.

I do like Nigel Slater's shepherd's pie with spiced parsnip mash, though. What a ponce I am.

Dinosaur · 05/02/2007 11:36

The DSs' school does fab school dinners but DS1 won't have them - I think because he worries about doing something "wrong" .

foxinsocks · 05/02/2007 11:39

It makes me . Dd was denied the vegetarian option last week because she's not a vegetarian ggrrrr (they are supposed to be able to choose). That was the final straw for me. That and dh (who has only developed a food conscience very recently) asking where I thought they got their meat from that they could produce the food so cheaply!

megandsoph · 05/02/2007 11:40

Brocolli and Tomatoes here.

foxinsocks · 05/02/2007 11:41

poor ds1 dino

could you persuade him to try do you think?

aDad · 05/02/2007 11:42

dd1 not the world's best eater but actually not bad at all with a lot of veg. However courgettes peppers tomatoes will send her into a panic. Ratatouille is her worst food nightmare.

Dinosaur · 05/02/2007 11:42

We got him to have Xmas dinner which was quite an achievement, but he's retreated back to his comfort zone now.

He does eat very healthy packed lunches, though.

lettuce was a no till recently - and i couldn't go near it when pg (it smelt of blood to me)

not keen on mushrooms but eats quantities of 'toadstools'

eats pretty much anything else but I avoid brocolli because he seems to ooze a death stench after eating it. Odd child.

Gingerbear · 05/02/2007 11:56

Green slime, AKA spinach.

paulaplumpbottom · 05/02/2007 12:53

cauliflower, she visibly cringes if she sees it on the table
