DH and I are staying at my best friends house looking after her DSs wlist she is whisked off to Marakesh for the weekend. Its her 40th and I thought we might all make a lemon drizzle for her return this evening - now, I've hunted high and low but can't find a processor/mixer. Do I have to cream the butter and sugar by hand or can I use melted butter to make it all super easy?

do you have stamina and strength in your forearm? And a bowl and a wooden spoon? And is the location of your friends' holiday salient in this scenario?

leave butter out of fridge for an hour or so (doesn't need to be melted just soft) then add sugar and cream with wooden spoon. Isn't difficult at all but takes a bit of elbow power.

oh, meant to specify, weigh right amt of butter into bowl and leave that out to soften - don't soften whole block, she won't thank you!

Softened stuff and elbow power it is then. Marakesh not salient at all - guess I'm just sharing my jealousy!
