dd1 read the story in school this week and has decided that we must make a gingerbread family tomorrow.

Please help!

This is from my trusty Be-Ro book and is fail-safe. Have used it at nursery with 2-3 year olds and never goes wrong!

250g SR flour
pinch salt
50g marg
100g caster sugar
3tsp ground ginger
3tbsp golden syrup
60ml milk

Sieve flour, salt and ginger together.
Warm syrup, marg,& sugar to melt.
Mix into flour.
Add milk to form "dough"
Roll out and cut into shapes.
Add currents for eyes, buttons etc if desired.
Put on greased tray.
Cook gas 3, 160C or 325F for 10-15 mins.

Take from tray when cooled but not cold!

Eat and enjoy!

If you check www.rollercoaster.ie recipes on discussions there is a thread on gingerbread men recipes!

well I do make gingerbread but have to say its such a faff

what you could do is nip down to sainsbury's and buy a tub of their gingerbread men and some writing icing

then use the writing icing to 'make a gingerbread family' with the pre-made gingerbread

but that would be cheating

MI made some great gingerbread with a delia recipe

Mine is on this thread. Traditional American, sweetened with molasses (treacle to you). Very very tasty, I've served them at the co-op and they've gone down very well.

Thanks all

Posey that's fantastic, just the kind of recipe I need! Esp. as it's all ingredients I can get at the local co-op!
