I am on a low sugar diet and am desperate for some sugar free recipes for my pampering moments.
Would be very grateful if anyone has any sugar free cake or biscuit recipes
thank you very much

Bumping and watching this with interest!

I have a lot of reasonably low-gi recipes for cakes, biscuits etc. But sugar-free is nearly impossible. Well, there's Frances' banana cake, which is on here somewhere - it's got banana, raisins, egg, and wholemeal SR flour, no sugar other than the sugar in the banana and raisins ...

Of course, if you're happy to use sugar substitutes, you could look at sugar-free recipes on this American website. Their recipes are reviewed by other users, so you can get a good idea of whether a recipe is worthwhile before making it.

Gah, the first one that comes up on there uses "fructose sweetener", which, from what I know, is sugar. Oh, and all the reviews said it sucked.

i think fructose is a disaccharide. why no sugar? sounds revolting

NotQuiteCockney · 30/01/2007 22:13

Yes, but still a sugar, right? And when I've asked diabetics about fructose vs sucrose or glucose, they have said there's not much if any difference.

This one gets better reviews. I'm not sure what a Linzer cookie is, and it looks a bit alarming. (Also, there's raspberry jam in it, which will of course have sugar in it.)

Oh, and this one has loads of good reviews, and isn't scary or gross. No artificial sweeteners. Of course, it's mostly made out of dried fruit, margarine and cream cheese, but there ya go.

thanks very much for all the info - if anyone wants/needs it I have found the most delicious apple and date cake that my husband (who loves cakes etc) really likes. But there is only so much apple cake a person can eat!
So let me know and I'll write it up -

thanks again
