princessmel · 27/01/2007 18:04

I'm suprised about the value cling film. Wilkinsons own brand stuff is awful. It never tears off properly and you end up with one long thing scraggly bit.

The cheese is ok.

munz · 27/01/2007 18:05

sorry should have added own brand:

beans
oils,
washing up liquid.
nappies not abd but are bulky I find - also wipes caused a nappy rash

is the value washing liquid/own brand powder any good does anyone know?

I always buy the value butter for baking.
Crisps are good too and smaller packets so I don't feel too bad about DS2 having a packet.
Vegetables - like peppers and carrots if you don't care what they look like.
Clothes for childen - excellent.
Tinned chopped tomatoes and kidney beans.

Would steer clear of toiletries and cleaning products

saltire · 27/01/2007 18:33

Value range good
Kitchen Roll
Tinned Toms
Kidney Beans
Butter
Biscuits such as bourbons, and choclate coated digetives in wrappers.
Sparkling water

Own brand good

2in1 washing powder, and the bio/non/bio tablets or capsules. Ds1 has sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate it
Washing Up liquid
Toilet rolls
Bathroom Cleaner spray, and other cleaning things
Tin foil/cling film
Custard
Tinned Fruit
Tuna
Squash - Ds2 can have it,as opposed to Robinsons which sends him hyper

Value bad
beans
Wet wipes

munz · 27/01/2007 18:37

tirnanog · 27/01/2007 18:53

Is there actually any difference, apart from price between the Value and own brand ranges,in terms of taste and quality.Or is it purely a difference in labelling and price?Basically,is it the same product?

Sorry if that makes no sense

nikkie · 27/01/2007 18:59

tirnanog · 27/01/2007 19:05

guess it was a stupid question then!!!!!!!!

NotAnOtter · 27/01/2007 19:07

i use sainsburys basics
the baby bath is 49p as opposed to £1.99 for johnsons
the tinned tomatoes are i swear the best around - all tomatoe no juice
basics pasta etc - why ever not
I used to be a terrible snob but am learning fast that its not big or clever to be one!! Get down the value aisle - thats where the rich people chop

NotAnOtter · 27/01/2007 19:07

'shop!!'

tirnanog · 27/01/2007 19:11

munz · 27/01/2007 19:16

tirnanog · 27/01/2007 19:26

I'm just trying to make an impression

munz · 27/01/2007 19:27
