yummy biscuit recipes?

After a long time with a crappy oven in which the heat was too uneven for baking biscuits and cakes, I now have a new one. I made some very nice shortbread this afternoon but I wondered whether anyone has some yummy biscuit recipes to share with me.

If you like ginger, this one is delish:
1lb plain flour
8 oz brown sugar
8 oz golden syrup
threequarters of ounce ground ginger
1 tablespoon bicarbonate soda
8 oz butter

Mix flour,bicarb, sugar and ginger together. Rub in butter and mix with syrup into firm ball. Pinch off pieces size of walnut and put on baking sheet about 12 at a time. Bake in moderate oven. They will be soft when they come out but harden when cold. Take about 15 mins.

BTW I'm after a new cooker. Do you mind if I ask which one you've bought and if you like it!
