HELP! Stewing steak!

I got a lovely pack of stewing steak from Sainsbury's, in one of my earth mother moments. I got it out of the freezer last night for dinner tonight, and its just occurred to me, I haven't the faintest idea how to cook it... I am, you might say, domestically challenged!
I figure the word "stewing" indicates to sling it in a casserole for an hour??? Yes, no???
Oh god! Help quick or its fish fingers tonight!

Yep. Cook it as long as possible on a low heat in some sort of casserole or stew.

Well, you might not want to do this, but I usually casserole it very slowly for 3 hours (at Gas 1 which is about 140C). Fry first to seal it, also fry some onions to go with it, then add flour to soak up fat and juices, add stock/wine/whatever and bung in oven. I would usually add some veg too (carrots, swede, celery etc).

You can cook it a bit quicker but it is more tender if cooked slowly. If you cook it in some alcohol then you can get away with casseroling for 1.5 to 2 hours at a slightly increased. temp.

If this will make your dinner too late cook it tomorrow instead, it'll be OK (I assume you defrosted it in the fridge).

I make lovely chilli beef with stewing steak. Make chilli as normal but substitute steak for mince. Need to cook for a lot longer, but it is lovely. Real mexican chilli is made with beef chunks not mince so it is more authentic to boot!

thanks ladies, it was yummy! I liquidised the leftovers for DS2 - but the steak didn't liquidise, so vegetable casserole for him tomorrow
