avent spouts

Ages ago (about 2000) I got some big Avent spouts ( about 2" - filled the cap). When I went to get replacements I can only find 'new improved' non-drip things which both my kids hate. The flow is erratic and they will only use them without the non-drip discs inside. But without these they leak everywhere even with the lid on. So I now have loads of Avent bottles I can't use.

To cut a long story short, does anyone know where I can get hold of the old style big chunky spouts? Ta

I have been having exactly the same problem, been looking for months, so I hope someone out there has the answer!

pupuce · 23/05/2002 14:41

Why don't you e-mail them?
I have found their website if that helps :
www.aventbaby.com/uk/index.html

I think they are called Avent Training Spouts - I do not think they do them any more.

I have two in a packet - never opened from about year 2000 - you can have them if you want them.

In the same position. Weaned both of my first two children with the soft training spouts and with No 3 due in just a few weeks I'm already panicking (is that spelt right?) about not being able to find them anywhere. Have looked at the Avent site and they have clearly been discontinued in Europe. Will try a worldwide search and see if I can find them elsewhere and have them shipped over - will let you know how I get on. Incidently, I really hate the new non-drip-fiddly-to-assemble-then-don't-work-anyway spouts - didn't they do any research!?!

monkey · 23/05/2002 20:28

ooh yes please mima - can we get in touch vie the site and I can give you my address etc etc. That'd be great

By the way pupuce i had that Idea but only just got round to it. They said they'd reply within 5 days, but then later said they often mislaid e-mails, so I should post them a letter too, just in case!

I have actually just found another one, so that is three altogether. How do I get your address?

Mima · 23/05/2002 20:39

monkey - p.s. Came across a load of Avent handles too - are they are use to you?

(In the process of tidying a cupboard in the kitchen just now, it is full of stuff from when I first weaned my son 3 years ago. Trying to make space for the things I need for weaning my little girl. Incidentally I have her on the new Avent spout, the 3+ month one, and she is managing fine on it (she is nearly 5 months).

They are discontinued - I bought mine when they were reduced for that reason - I was going to buy them anyway. I think it must be over a year ago now. I agree about the non drip ones I bought some but only used then about once

GillW · 23/05/2002 23:48

The Avent America website (www.aventamerica.com/products/trainingcups.htm) site still lists them - if that helps.

In the uk BabyBoom also still have them on their website.

I'm using these (found mine in John Lewis) as DS can't get to grips with the non spill type.

monkey · 26/05/2002 13:06

mima - i've contacted mumsnet to see if they can help us exchange details. I don't live in uk now but am returning next week for a visit, so it'd be great if they can help me ouit quickly.

Hi, I just looked on www.kiddicare.com which has a big Avent section but they don't have any. HOWEVER, they do have some fantastic bargains on buggies including the Mclaren Vogue reduced to £59.99, if anyone is interested. I have a soft spout and agree - my ds prefers it to the hard non-spill versions. Wonder why they discontinued it?

monkey · 27/05/2002 12:50

btw I got a 'phone call the very next day after I e-mailed avent. All they could say was, sorry, we don't do those spouts now but have you tried our new non-drip ones.... Still, I was impressed they responded so quickly, even if they have made the mad decision to discontinue the old spouts.

another btw, we seem to be talking about 2 different old spouts here. The ones I mean are hard, not soft, just big and a good shape, not the small silly 'non-spill, non-drink things). Aloha, do you mean the big soft ones with just one (largish) hole? The ones I mean are a similar size - a bit wider at the top but the same length with 3 hole. But either are miles better than the new ones.

GillW - did you get your old-style ones in John Lewis recently? Does anyone else know any retailers still selling the old ones? Please don't all rush round there to buy them before I arrive in the country either!

Monkey - yes got them in John Lewis Milton Keynes about 4 months ago - as part of a "training cup" pack - so I got a bottle with it too.

Mima · 28/05/2002 19:25

Monkey - have tried to e-mail you 3 times with the e-mail address that Mumsnet have forwarded to me. They keep getting posted back to me as there is a problem with your postbox.

monkey · 28/05/2002 19:54

oh no oh no oh no - I got an e-mail from them ok so I don't know why you're having problems. Sorry - could you maybe clear them to give me your e-mail address, as I've only got a few days before I leave here to come to uk then I won't be contactable!

Mima - back home now, so I'd like to say a huge 'thank you' for the spouts and handles. I really appreciate it.
