dd's are pasta, pesto and peas, roast chicken and roast potatoes, and white fish poached in milk and a baked potato (both with broccoli).
funnily enough, the latter two were what my mum used to cook me when i was ill.

i'd be interested to know what everyone else's comfort foods are. cheers

he practically goes on a hunger strike when he has a cold, but will eat snacks - you know those Organix rice cakes and corn snacks - cheeky monkey !

oh and lots of fruit juice which at least i know gives him lots of vit C - i do the fruit juice in my juicer

McDreamy · 21/01/2007 16:57

cowboy casserole is very easy - tin of tomatoes, tin of beans, packet of good quality sausages - I normally slow mine for about 6 hours but would only take about 1 hours in the oven.

Morrocan chicken is with apricots sultanas and cinamon. Makes the chicken nice soft and sweet which is why it alsways goes down well. Would have to look out the recipe to give more details. Will post later!

treacletart · 21/01/2007 17:00

sausage, pasta, pesto, peas.

Pink fish (salmon), potatoes and some sort of greenery.

she's a terrible eater so there is no dinner she'll eat for definite, even if she's not sick.

for ds his eyes light up when he sees spinach of all things!

hana · 21/01/2007 18:05

those are for the dds not me!

snig · 21/01/2007 18:07

pasta and pesto is always a winner!

oxocube · 21/01/2007 18:52

If genuinely ill, none of mine eat to be honest, but if just a little off colour, homemade veg soup for the older two, soft boiled eggs and soldiers for all of them, toast and marmite, Weetabix, hot milk and yoghurt.

Usually good eaters so its a decent indication of how sick (ie do they need to stay home from school!) if they refuse food

shonaspurtle · 21/01/2007 18:56

Db & I used to get egg-in-a-cup when we were poorly and thought it was a big treat .

It was just a boiled egg mashed up with butter and served...in a cup. No idea why we prefered it to a plain ol boiled egg but it would still comfort me now.

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2007 18:59

Homemade soup and toast
Tuna and potato souffle
Tuna, tomato and bean pasta
Poached egg on toast
Stir-fry- esp. noodles, turkey, peas and sweetcorn
Winter Warmer (minced beef, onion, gravy, carrot, mushrooms and crusty bread to dip)
Eggy Bread
Sardines on toast

lizziemun · 21/01/2007 19:41

dd pasta with tom based sauce with cheese.

For everyone chicken stew with herb dumplings.

for me tin of tapioca or rice pudding.

Enid · 21/01/2007 19:47

chicken soup

AitchTwoOh · 21/01/2007 19:58

shonaspurtle, we used to get egg-in-a-cup too... a huge treat. i think it was the big wodge of butter that made the difference.
