2 peaches, banana, coconut yogurt and pineapple juice - whizz and drink

I buy fruit in bulk, puree it in the blender and freeze in all my left-over-from-weaning ice cube trays. Then I put a mix of them in the blender with some apple juice and fresh fruit/tinned peaches and whizz away. Superb ice cold smoothies. Melon is fab and strawberries work well. Also over-ripe bananas, chopped and frozen (they blend better chopped).

I don't put yoghurt in as I don't like it so my smoothies are juice only. Tinned peaches (in juice) are fab for smoothies.

Iced Coffee (like Starbucks)
rec.food.cooking/Ellen (SportKite1)/2000

We're three weeks into Iced Coffee season. Got hooked on those little bottles of Starbucks so I figured how hard can it be to duplicate? Well, I've made them with Haagen Daz Vanilla Ice Cream, I've made them with half and half, but guess what, the best results used good old whole milk.

Fill your blender 1/3 way full with leftover cold coffee (use a REALLY good coffee freshly ground).

Add:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

If you like Mocha this is where you add a tablespoon or two of cocoa powder or you can add a little bit of Vanilla, Kahlua or Amaretto if you want to alter the flavor somewhat.

Add milk until you like the color. I prefer a nice deep tan. Blend on high for a minute or two. Chill well. Serve over ice.

It's nice to not be tossing leftover coffee & it's a super pick me up in the afternoon.

Whatever you do, don't add kiwi fruit. The seeds have some really peppery substance in them that gets in the back of your throat. Horrid!

Oooh yes, Time...

  1. Take your PC and locate the modem connection. Pull it out.
  2. Pack your children off to nursery/school/the understairs cupboard
  3. hide the remote for the TV.

Et voila! extra time guaranteed!!

bea · 26/05/2004 10:35
