What volume of solids for 7month old?

My DS is 7 months old & on solids 3 times a day. None of my books tell me what kind of volume he should be eating per meal - a whole jar or half a jar? Not sure when I'm making up portions of our food how much he should be having. He's not sleeping through the night every night so wondered if maybe his food isnt right.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I have a 10 month old and she will have about 3/4 a jar per meal. Having said that she is refusing jars and VERY oddly will only eat my cooking (no one eats my cooking!). When she was 7months I was feeding her frozen homemade food I had put in ice cube trays and she was having 4 cubes per meal followed by a yoghurt or fruit. She likes her grub so may be on the greedy side but they soon let you know if they have had enough so I wouldnt worry too much about how much to feed. I found the most important thing was to give her snacks of either fruit or rice cakes in between meals so she isnt going too long between meals and I know she wont be starving by the next meal. Dont know if thats any good to you but like I said I wouldnt worry I am sure what you are doing is right. The waking in the night will probably be more likely to do with teething. My DD was an excellent sleeper till about 6 months now she wakes at least once a night because of her teeth.Infact she has just woken now so must dash...
