Please can you give some PROOF to an auntie who has admitted to my mum (not me, as knows the reaction) that she gave her grand daughter Bird's custard last week. This is a baby who is sleeping through the bloody night. It is breaking my heart because her older DB, who's 2 was fed crap early too and has excema, bad chests. She was proud of the fact that she fed her DD Heinz Chocolate pudding at 10 weeks. My cousin also suffered with excema really badly and they wondered why?
Please confirm the risk and what allergies, etc can occur if weaning early. I remember reading about chest complaints and excema. Is this correct?

Great news Bron42, you obviously handled this sensitively yet got the crucial point across. Changing anyone else's behaviour or challenging their beliefs is incredibly difficult ? major pat on the back.

This is a generational thing. I had ds in 1972 and was advised by HV to start a taste of Farex (it would be baby rice these days) at 1 month. I knew very little, ds loved it, no problems. By 1974 when I had dd and did the same thing different HV threw a wobbly and disagreed totally with previous advice. Don't know how many times the fashion has changed since then. Ds and dd both healthy adults with their own children - they follow current advice and can't believe how it was then.
