when you make up bottles with fresh boiled water, how long do you keep the unused bottles out for? I make up all the bottles at 7am then chuck anything unused at 7pm (DS' bedtime) but am wondering if I could keep them out for overnight? sorry to sound so thick

have always kept bottles overnight. have never been too strict on exactly 24 hours, in other words if made at 7am today I wouldn't throw it out at 7am tomorrow...if its not needed until later I keep it until she needs it. (so far neither of mine have been ill!)

snap, twiglett. i did this with ds after i'd stopped b/f. it was so easy.

Littleweed, I make up 5 or 6 at a time and keep them in the fridge door (sorry yorkiegirl!) until I need them. So it would definitely be overnight and maybe longer but I only add formula as I need them, i.e. it's bottles of water being kept in the fridge, not bottles of made up formula. Those segment things are fab since you can take small amounts of formula + your bottle of water out with you and only make up a bottle as you need it. If you took out a made up bottle it would be officially chuckable after an hour (though I reckon they're still ok after 2 hours but I know not everyone would agree with that).

thnaks ladies - i feel reassured now that I've been doing it right- have kept bootles on side until i need to use them. if out the formula thingy from Mcare is great though today am tempted to add gin to the water and use the container for ice and lemon!!!
