Nooo, urgent help needed for coke in ham

O.k. I'm having a party tomorrow night and an integral part is a ham in coke a la Nigella.

So i've just been to get the ham out of the fridge, only to discover that I have bought a cooked ham. Now judge me if you want, but in my defence the writing is in Swedish and mine is not too good and it doesn't looked cooked to me. It weighs about 2kg and is sloshing about in juices and is very pale.

Anyway, judging over, can I still boil it in the coke?

I wouldn't think so .. no

(I hated the ham in coke cos I didn't pre-boil the gammon and it was too damn salty .. just mentioning in case you go out and get raw)

poo, that's not what I wanted to hear. How about "ah just do it anyway and see what happens"?

I'd just do it anyway and see what happens

(But I might have something else on hand in case it doesn't work too)

perhaps you could still do the 'crust' bit?

that way it would be different, but still yummy!

btw where on earth did you get a Swedish ham? or do you live in Sweden?

MrsMillsletoe · 30/12/2006 15:10

I live in Sweden

I've done one for tonight, looks yummy- but I got mine in Asda Not to sure about the crust with a combo of cloves, treacle, mustard and sugar- but looks great, and hopefully will impress SIL! For pud I've made the chocolate and guinness cake for the first time, so fingers crossed.

vitomum · 30/12/2006 15:30

i would not boil it in coke now. But you could do the crust / glaze part still and bake in over for half an hour

MrsMillsletoe · 30/12/2006 15:37

So If there's a bit of a fatty side I could stil score it and bake it with the glaze?

Thanks, I think I'll have to do that then,I'm so so so sad . however I may jsut venture out tomorrow mornng and have a look. Anyone know the Swedish for uncooked ham?
