freezer seems to be automatically defrosting - why now???

Just cooked a whole bunch of stuff for Christmas period and went out to add some more stuff to freezer and it seems to be defrosting. Stuff in freezer is now mostly not frozen - arghhhh! any advice?

Oh bugger. It's nto somethign simple like the fuse is it?

My fridge man's first thing is to ask if it is switched on, then the swich it off and on again routine.
