Ok so I used to manage a gourmet cheese shop so I am fairly passionate about cheese. I also had to have my gallbladder out so I can only eat it occasionally.
One of my favourite cheeses in the world is Cashel Blue, an Irish blue cheese that is amazing when it is properly matured, ie at least a couple of weeks past it's expiry date. My Irish neighbour gave me some a couple of weeks ago and I had stashed it in the fridge along with a camembert I was maturing for Christmas day. They were both going to be perfect.
I went back to Ireland for a week and just came back yesterday. Thought to myself in the deli in the airport 'oh I don't have to buy any cheese, I have it all ready at home'.

Dss has thrown it all out as it 'smelled really bad' . He doesn't like cheese.

Well the day has been saved
Dss and I went to House of Fraser food hall today and got:
Cashel Blue(not quite matured enough but still nice)
Montgomery Cheddar,
Cooleney camembert,
Colston Basset Stilton,

And I got oatcakes and my all time favourite, charcoal biscuits
Am a very happy foodie now.
Also got two bottles of Villa Antinori for the big day. am broke but happy........

hooray!

have watched this thread with grave concern.

Enjoy your cashel blue and get dh to hide a bit of it for new year so you have it in it's prime!

DimpledThighs · 21/12/2006 21:33

(remember it was him that threw it away in the first place!)

Oh he is lovely but he diddn't buy them! But he did carry my bags for me all day. and we had a lovely lunch in yosushi, all very grown up, he is going to be 18 in January and he is showing his burgeoning maturity at last!!

Have just sampled each of the cheeses, fab, all of them but the Colston Basset Stilton is particularly gorgeous, it may not make it to the Christmas day cheeseboard........
