I always ice mine at the end of November, then we eat it during Advent! That way we get to really savour and enjoy it, rather than it getting lost amongst all the other Christmas extravagancies.

haven't done mine yet. I usually do it a couple fo days before christmas as I hate the icing being rock hard (and also am bit disorganised adn lazy - but mainly first reason - honest )

This is dh's job!

He made the marzipan last year, but is cheating this year with bought stuff. The icing will still be the real thing though.

MIL's Xmas cake icing needed the electric carving knife to get into it a couple of years ago!!

MamaG · 17/12/2006 15:09

at UCM - your cake looks great, hav added a comment

I've marzipanned and iced mine (used marmalade as no apricot jam!) and will decorate with DD later

Done mine - covered in gold stars and edible glittery bits. DD1 wanted a unicorn on it and DD2 wanted to make Homer Simpson...but we left it white with Gold - boring mummy!!

DimpledThighs · 17/12/2006 19:40

Mama G - it is really lovely, am quite jealous.

Lemon tart - yours sounds lovely too, can you post a pic? Or at least describe the gold stars in more detail!

UCM · 17/12/2006 20:12

WOW groovy cake MamaG Love the decorations they are brill!!

MamaG · 18/12/2006 21:20

Aw shucks

Can I just point out that the white blob at the top of the pic isn't a penis, but a snowman!

DimpledThighs · 18/12/2006 21:34

aw - I thought it was three penises emerging from the cake - dunno if I like it so much now

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappyNewYe · 18/12/2006 21:35

marzipanned mine today, will ice it tomorrow - ready roll icing then a holly wreath around the edge, made out of sugarpaste.
