OK, girls, I ordered the Ruth Watson book, just so I could tell you what it's like! (At least, that's how I'm trying to justify buying yet another cook book!) For some reason, I'd imagined it would be lots of set menus for 8 - a starter, main course and pudding. I've no idea why I thought this... Anyway, it's a really nice hardback book with sections such as Starters, Peasant Food, Big Roasts, Footless Food, Sides, Cakes and Puds. It's nicely written, and the recipes look relatively easy. My only complaint (and it's a very small one!) is that there's not many photos. I like to see what things are meant to look like once I've cooked them. I think it's a book that I'll use quite a lot. If you do decide to buy it, I got it for £6.99 from the Book People. Hope this is of use to you both.
