Very stupid and boring question about Melons........

Ok...I have bought a melon...and a melon baller but I can't for the life of me get the balls round!
They all have a flat egde (IYSWIM) Is this just how they are meant to be or is there a nack I'm just not getting????

(Sorry...very dull I know...BUT I WANT PERFECT ROUND BALLS!)

p.s...I wanted to make little round potatoes for xmas dinner...can I do that with the melon baller??

i know what you mean.

you have to put the baller into the melon flesh very deep. otherwise yes you will get a flat bit cos the bit of flesh you start at will be flat. hard to explain! try putting the baller into the flesh with the handle stuck straight out towards you and just twist the handle like you were using a screwdriver.

I have tried various angles Dizzy...my melon is now looking like swiss cheese! Will go give your corkscrew method a whirl!

Nope...just can't get them round! they still have a dip or hole in them. AAARRRGGGHHH! V.fustrating!
