homemade icecream

does anyone know how long homemade icecream keeps in the freezer, for some reason I have in my head that it only keeps a week.

I think about a week otherwise it loses flavour and can get too ice-crystaly. It also absorbs flavours very easily so make sure you don't stash it near any garlic bread or similar....
