Suzy I'm sure the cachet of having worked(for famous people) in London as well as your natural cooking talent will blow them away!!
I'm actually very as although I love what I am doing now, I did love working in a restaurant kitchen. Please do leach ideas and let me live vicariously through you

NewLP - thanks for the links. Everytime I googled pinhead, I got loads of links for companies in the US selling Scottish brands!!! But nothing within the UK - so thanks for those.

Yes Mercy,she is.Quite brilliant.
However she is a bit bored by cooking now.
Her energies are devoted to her Welsh A level,flitting around the world and sipping wine,thus she will have to be closely monitored.

Drooling!

Breakfast will be fresh home made raisin toast (aussie style so huge slices and loads of butter)and a cuppa

Lunch is organic, free range, happy home with lots of cocktails type chook with a currant, red wine and rice stuffing
Veg: slow roast potatoes, pumpkin, spinach, possibly those pommy yorkshire pud thingys
Homemade onion gravy

Dessert is a kilo each of Haagen Dazs Ice Cream with jelly, custard and Yeo Valley double cream and Baileys drizzled over the top...

Another day will be the seafood with whole organic salmon, cheese platter, champers, a gesture of salad and homemade garlic and ginger vinaigrette

Breakfast: Smoothies and homemade pancakes with berries and perhaps some smoked salmon (special request from DDs)

Lunch: Beef Bourguignon and mashed potato (both made a day or so before) and something green (any suggestions?). We are going swimming on Christmas morning and I hate eating mid-afternoon so I want something quick, hassle free but delicious. For pudding, Christmas puddings which have already been made by my mother, me and the DDs to my Great Auntie Elizabeth's recipe plus brandy butter and, for the DDs, jelly in a mould.

Tea/Dinner - no idea. Probably left over Christmas cake (we traditionally eat our Christmas cake on Christmas Eve after the crib service) and baked beans on wholemeal toast!

going to try the goose thing for xmas lunch - only tried it once about 6 years ago and i spent days cleaning the fat out the oven!! but my dh is german and he wouldnt think xmas was right unless we had goose! at least i'll be making lovely roasties! wish me luck

Okay now this thread has made me really . AS this year it is our turn to go up to MIL. The woman isn't interested at all in cooking .

But am going to make sure I take up ingred for my Pancakes (including maple syrup imported from the US) for breakfast. I do not care I am hauling it halfway across the country. I want at least ONE DECENT MEAL!

issy, do you like chard? I can't get enough of it (gently sauteed after finely chopping stems and leaves separately, last night i also chucked in some chopped preserved lemons)

Last year I decided that it was really crap for me to be in the kitchen all day while the kids are having fun playing...it was just our family, so i decided that the kids could have whatever they wanted (they never eat x-mas dinner) I think my son had macaroni cheese, and we had tons of nibbly food that i did not have to cook We had some nice stuff from m&s, but i decided i wanted to have a family day with the kids. It was WONDERFUL!!! I don't mind cooking, but only dh and myself really enjoy it. Looking back, all i remember from my childhood is my mum in the kitchen all day. We did have a big party on christmas eve, lots friends, food and booze, everyone had a blast!!

bundle: Chard? Good thought. With preserved lemons - even better. The kids won't be eating green stuff on Christmas Day anyway, although I could chuck them some broccoli!

Well for the first time ever will be going out to beautiful old country pub with lots of character and big roaring fire. Father Christmas will also be visiting if he's not drunk too many sherries by that point so my three beautiful DD's and my niece and nephew will be happy too. My parents always host Christmas having run a hotel for 30 years but sadly they passed away so their giving spirit will have to carry on thru me and my family but this year we'll have a nice easy one and give a big toast to them.

Usually we eat at about 5.00p.m. and I really go to town and cook everything from scratch but last year I also found that I spent the whole bloody day in the kitchen and missed out on playing with ds. So this year I will be having everything pre prepared from Waitrose/M&S and we will eat much earlier about 1.30ish which will give me the rest of the day to enjoy playing with ds's new toys.

Breakfast:
Chocolate croissants
or
French toast with bacon and maple syrup.
Lots of fresh coffee and juice.

Lunch:
Ready stuffed turkey joint
Roast pots
Brussel sprouts
Sausage and bacon wraps
Chestnut stuffing
Carrots
Gravy
Cranberry sauce

Followed by:
Ice cream/cream with chocolate log

Tea:
More chocolate log

Supper:
Cold bits eg smoked salmon, oatcakes, sausage rolls, fruit, coleslaw, salad, etc

All accommpanied with lots of booze!

And crackers!!

For the first time this year I am doing Xmas dinner for 6 and tbh I am bricking it as I am not the greatest cook. I have got a booklet from M&S and have decided I am going to buy everything for the dinner from there, it just looks so bloody gorgeous and not much hassle to make either.

Its going to be nightmare because the children have so many toys that the living room is going to be full of toys, we don't have a dining room or a dining table so its going to be CHAOTIC.

Oh god......what have I got myself into
