does anyone eat 100% organic food?

we buy organic meat, fruit and veg, pasta, rice and bread but i would love to be able to buy 100% organic food. is it possible? as in can you get everything and does it cost a bomb?

it ould cost a bomb, but is fat tastier, if I won the lottery than maybe..
except I don't play! - SO i dont buy organic anything. I don't reallly ree the point in only buying organic in certian things

We buy all organic meat, and mostly organic veg, but are definitely not 100% organic.

well i guess i buy what i do cos then at least i have reduced some environmental damage and possibly reduced some damage to our own health. i wish the government would subsidise orgaic farmers like they do intensive farmers - organic produce wouldn't be half as expensive then!

is it really reductiom of environmental damage on scale though, if there remain farmers who will srill produce produce free of genetic modificatiomn and those who won't? Does it mean that you wlll do wtihotu fruit or begetables that are out of season?
I love the taste of proper fruit and veg from local produce from both here and aborad but if I was to linit that to jsut british produce I would have forgoe so much.
I guess it comes down to wherether one person can make tha much of a difference, especially when considering in our climat hoe much can be frown and transorted organically

We are virtually 100% organic. The supermarkets - Tesco and Sainsbury's - stock just about everything in an organic version. Ironically they also sell off a lot of organic stuff really cheaply when past its sell-by dates - eg apples, spuds - where sell-by dates are pretty irrelevant.

We aim to with meat, fruit, veg, pasta, bread, dairy, things like baked beans etc and I also buy organic soap, shampoo and showergels but then on the other hand we occasionally have a supermarket curry or a ready meal or we eat out and I don't buy organic biscuits, cake or chocolate although we don't eat alot of those. But organic does taste much better IMHO.

I'll buy fresh, local, in season, and from source if possible, over and above organic. Fortunately we have a farmers market within easy reach every week, and several good farm shops/local produce outlets.

Why does everyone go for organic even it's been flown half way round the world, over local produce?

I eat organic for the things I think matter - dairy, meat. I also get an organic veg box but that's more about wanting to eat more seasonal and British produce. Dairy is for health reasons, but the rest is more because I want to reduce the impact my shopping trolley has on the environment. I agree it is just as important to shop locally and buy british.

You can't eat truly 100% organic food because some stuff does not carry an organic certification - salt for example! And anything wild (eg wild salmon or game) is by definition non-organic because you can't monitor what a wild animal eats.

I'm not convinced it is tastier..I think it depends as much on where it comes from as much as supposed organic status

I do get organic milk when possible as i think there are benefits to that

i buy organic dairy and some meat i also get veg box, but i genrally buy what i know tastes good and is good quality like green and blacks chocolate!!

nappyaddict, buying organic doesn't reduce environmental damage at a global level: as the UK demand far outstrips what UK farmers can supply the majority of organic food here from all over the world, thus adding to global warming.

Better to buy local.

I do as much as possible.
I agree it is also v. important to buy local. Supermarkets are unscrupulous but some box schemes(eg, Riverford)/sensible shops will not air freight anything.

i buy organic locally because it tends to be cheaper. i have been told as well to be organic only 95% of things in it have to be organic, but someone once said to me if you buy from the supermarket it is more likely you will only get 95% organic whereas if you buy from a farmers market you will get closer to 100% although i'm not sure how this works logically, cos each stall doesn't have a sign saying so and so % organic!!

a family i used to work for were 100% organic...

it helped that the father used to regularly go to america and come back with random orgnaic things that were very difficult to find in this country

also cooked pretty much everything from scratch.... and its quite easy to by organic meat / veg / sugar / butter / cheese / bread / tins of beans / tomatoes etc etc and combine using fabulouse recipies to get a 100% organic meals!
