am thinking of buying it but not sure what its contents are and if its worth it

Cant recommend it highly enough. In fact I made cookies using the book this afternoon with DD.

Excellent, easy, basic recipes using every day and storecupboard ingredients.

I'll second that use mine at least a couple of times a week

We have The DinnerLady book - it is great. It has lots of normal, every day type meals that are ideal for family cooking.

what kind of dishes are in it? is it ones for all the family or mainly aimed at kids?

All the family. It really is worth the money. The fish pie recipe is excellent. Some basic pasta ones too. Any recipe i have tried has been a success.
