I keep changing my mind about which spread to buy as there are just too many to choose from. I want the most natural and best for the children. I buy organic butter but can't spread that for sandwiches so I need something spreadable. TIA.

spreadable butter
marg = evil

Furball · 28/11/2006 11:44

I bought a covered butter dish and leave it on the worktop. Result = lovely spreadable organic butter, yummy!

Kerrygold, low fat spreadable.

Sophiev73 · 28/11/2006 12:11

Ohh yukky marg, marg is yuk. Room temp butter agreed.

or mash the butter on chop board with knife and then spread - takes seconds.
I LOVE BUTTER anything else is awful

I have a butter dish!! I knew one day it would come in handy. Does the butter still stay fresh? I had been buying utterly butterly but picked up a flora yesterday.

I cut off a 1/3 of a pack of butter at a time and it stays fresh for a couple of weeks.

Margarine is evil. I don't entirely understand why, but I am convinced (on no evidence whatever) that butter makes you live longer, makes you happier, makes you earn more, etc etc.

Actually though we are a bit pissed off that the organic butter we buy from Sainsburys (think it's Yeo Valley) is a funny size and we have to carve it up to make it fit in our butter dish

NAB3 · 28/11/2006 13:35

Is ALL margarine bad? Are there any good ones? I will try the butter on the side but I would still like some spreadable butter, if anyone can suggest one without rubbish in it. Thanks.

Marge is shit.
It makes you fart and turns your eyeballs green.

Keep it in a covered dish on the side (I have a groovy 50s pressed glass number that cost me 50p).
Don't pay over t'odds for 'spreadable'

DizzyBint · 28/11/2006 13:38

its stays fine on the side. we always had it on the side in a lurpak butter dish. dh on the other hand is a fridge-aholic. he can't stand anything not to be in the fridge..bread, cakes, butter, eggs..does my head in.
