We are making ours on the last sunday of november.I thinkit's called 'stirup sunday'or something.
We made ours late last year and it was fab.I can't find the recipe tho'.I think it was a Delia one.I am making one from Nigella Lawsons book Feast..it looks quite simple..which is what i need

agree with dooby doo about stir up sunday - you have absolutely ages ages ages. I have done them a couple of weeks before christmas and have been fine.

I think delia does a last minute cake with mincemeat you can do the night before but you are not in that position.

You probably got worried because we have some highly efficent mumsnetters on here getting in early - I however, am not one of those

I was always told by the 25th, so you are just getting in on time. Sure the cake will taste fine, just less chance to mature this way. Don't forget to feed it with brandy every week !

There is a thread called Christmas Cake club somewhere, it has a very simple C/cake recipe which tastes fab even if eaten the next day. So no, it's never too late.
