Don't see why not, she's over 6 months.

Just a small portion should be fine, mixed with some cheese should be yummy!

anyone else give it to their babies at 7 months?

i'll be starting dd on protein at 7 months and yes it'll be tuna in springwater cos that's what we buy already. she's 6 months now btw.

Don't you have to be careful about how much and how often because of the high levels of mercury in tuna?

yes. same as in pregnancy. however, we don't eat meat, so dd will be getting most of her protein from fish, such as tuna. so i have to weigh up the pros and cons. she will be having tuna maybe twice a week.

Anyone else know if you shouldn't give it because of mercury?

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/11/2006 14:58

It's fine to give. Someone posted a great link recently showing the amounts suitable at diff ages. Expect you'll find it if you search the weaning topic for tuna.

Do watch the salt content though - even the one in spring water contains quite a lot, so just balance it with the other things you give in a day.

The link is on this thread .

so it's definately ok to give tuna to 7 month old ,is it? as long as it's say, 2 or 3 times a week?

Do you have a family history of allergies? Fish is one of the foods which should be delayed until after 12 months if you do as it is a fairly common allergen. Otherwise, just watch the salt content because as others have said, there is still a lot of salt in the spring water stuff - I went cross eyed comparing them all in Tesco the other week!
Hope she likes it after all your agonising!!
