Does anyone have a good recipe for an egg free cake?

It's for a friend of mine who is having a birthday party for her LO who has an egg allergy. She was thinking of something sort of 'healthy' like carrot or banana cake.

I have found a fabulous recipe book called "great cakes without egg". Has loads of recipes in it. I have to adapt slightly as dd has egg and dairy allergy but, despite this, they still have all come out brilliantly so far. Made a lovely coconut caramel cake the other day, or I can post a recipe which is either banana or carrot based but I won't have tried these out. Have to say though, out of the 3 cakes I've made from the book already I haven't had a single failure which is pretty good going for me!

Let me know what type she would prefer.

got this off mumsnet, tried this year, was ok with icing on:

easy fruit cake-

One mug dried fruit
One mug milk
One mug light brown sugar
Two mugs SR flour
Pinch mixed spice

Whack it all together and put in a greased 1lb loaf tin, cook for about 50 mins on about 190C. Smells amazingly warm and spicy when it's cooking. It's like a tea loaf so you can slice and butter if you like (but I don't). Sometimes add a mashed banana or two, and get yummy easy banana bread - and no fat really! Yay!

last year did rice krispies cake (choc rice krispies, more choc lol)

yr b4 egg substitute, and one vinegar one, both flat and yuck! good luck!!

There's a recipe for an eggless chocolate cake here from yesterday.

Rich Banana nut loaf
340g plain flour
3 tsp baking powder
1tsp bicarb
170g currants
100g walnuts
50g mixed peel
100g brown sugar
100g margarine
285ml orange or pineapple juice.

preheat oven to 180C
mix the first 6 ingredients together in a large bowl and set aside.
Cream the bananas sugar and margearine then slowly stir in the juice.
Blend the dry mix with the banana mix and pour the batter into a lightly greased loaf tin.
bake for one hour.
this is a very easy cake to make and is delicious.i sometimes leave out the nuts or peel and just add a bit extra fruit.
