can anyone tell me some low fat and low sugar yoghurts please? i am having trouble. low fat tend to have lots of sugar in and the ingredients lists on these things are so confusing with all the different names for sugar!

i just need a brand name! MTPW buy X!!

  • needs to be v low fat v low sugar as it is part of a special 10 day diet that i have to do leading up to my op.

mytwopenceworth · 18/11/2006 22:29

can you just do without yoghurt for 10days?

MrsSpoon · 18/11/2006 22:34

I like the Total 0% stuff but mix a little honey or a little maple syrup with it (would that be too much sugar?), usually serve with fruit.

mytwopenceworth · 18/11/2006 22:40

cant. i have to have 3 pints of skimmed milk and 2 low fat and low sugar yoghurts per day for the 10 days leading up to the op (so i start tomorrow!) - and nothing else! (well, except water!!!)

it is to shrink my liver before they operate, otherwise they will not do the surgery. i have to follow the instructions to the letter, i'm told.

i suppose i could ask if can have more milk instead of the yoghurt.

didnt they suggest a brand to use?

hmmm.

how wil lthey do the op? someone was on here the other day saying they had the band done, are you having similar?

mytwopenceworth · 18/11/2006 22:46

no they didnt. i'll phone and ask, i just wanted to avoid ringing up and sounding dumb! - i'd rather sound dumb on here!

it is keyhole surgery. they make about half a dozen inscisions (sp) and then put this little band round your stomach to created a pouch at the top. the band has a tube from it and a little button thing. they inflate the band with saline that they inject into the button thing, they fiddle about with you dreadfully, you drink while being xrayed so they get the right amount in the band and all sorts of stuff! its so gross, i am so squeamish about it all. tbh, i am really freaking out!

but it will help wont it. i know you are disabled by your weight, so this will work and be good for you.

mytwopenceworth · 18/11/2006 23:05

yes, i know. i'm committed to it, just a bit scared. it is my only hope now, awful as that is! countdown!

if you eat PLAIN low-fat yogurt, it will have no sugar in it at all. ANY plain low-fat yogurt, honestly. boring, I know, if it's all you're eating - but easy!
