DS will only drink milk and then only out of a bottle. Help!

DS is a fantastic eater however he will only drink milk (full fat or formula) and then it has to be in a bottle. He is now 13months and I feel I should really apply myself to getting him drink out of a cup and something other than milk.

Feeder cups are all met with pursed lips and a very effective swipe of the hand although he will sometimes take a couple of sips of water or very dilute apple juice, but never more than 3.

He only has 3 bottles a day, on waking, about 2pm and one just before he goes to bed. I'm worried that if I drop any of the bottles he currently has then he'll end up dehydrated.

Any ideas, suggestions, tips etc?

3 drinks a day FANTASTIC! stop worrying! some 13 mth wont have any, dont worry yet, milk fab
Bottle fine, I Think (IMO) tempt hm with yours (water or orange or tea or fennell or whatever?) if he's interested? then pour into bottle so he can see it's same drink...After while try cup with spout (no spill are best) please dont worry x

at 13 months he doesnt need a 2 pm bottle of milk

drop it and see what happens...

also u could just be harsh and drop bottles all together (throw them in bin or pu them some where where you CANT get them) did this with an old charge of mine when he was 17 months]

in the same way hungry children eat the food they are given, thirsty children drink liquids offered to them in the cups u provide! after 2 or 3 days (max) im sure u will find he happily drinks from a cup! and forgets all about bottles

My ds is 2 and still has a 3oz milk feed out of a bottle in the morning (which we;re in the process of weaning him off) and an 8oz milk feed out of a bottle before he goes to bed. I've never been that hung up on getting him off a bottle as he has all his other drinks out of a cup quite happily. Its more a comfort thing than anything else so I don't see the harm in it. We weaned ds off his afternoon milk by putting it in a cup and he took less and less. Just offer a cup through the day and he'll get used to it. Our lo didn't take to a cup at first and would only drink diluted juice but he soon got the hang of it. I wouldn't worry too much at his age, its hard for them to make the adjustment and it sounds like you're doing enough - just keep perservering!!!

Thanks.

Bit paranoid about the bottles as DS1 was off all bottles appart from before bed by now and was merrily shouting for juice at every opportunity.

Think I will try putting his 2pm drink in a feeder cup. Might even go cold turkey and make it juice, not milk ...in for a penny in for a pound!

D-Day Friday as he's at the childminders afternoons until then.
