What can I make with apples in it?

We are having friends for dinner this weekend and we have a huge boxful of cooking apples outside.
I am planning to do a Shepherd's Pie for lunch.
So what would be a nice dessert that uses lots of apples? It will be be for 4 adults and 3 children.

Apple crumble, or baked apples with raisins and ice cream.

I thought of apple crumbel but I'm thinking that it wouldn't go with Shepherd's Pie. You know because they look very much the same in the dish?
