i have been doing it weekly with about a table spoonful. But i am no expert i am under the tutilege of UCM. There is a christmas cake thread somewhere, but i seem to have mislaid it

MamaG · 10/11/2006 14:18

quite right. the feeding of a christmas cake definitely warrants it own thread

SoMuchToBits · 10/11/2006 14:29

Thanks for remimding me - must do mine today! I think how often you feed it depends on how alcoholic you like your cake.

MamaG · 10/11/2006 16:39

will once a week make it VERY strong, or nicely moist?!

I am looking forward to feeding the cake again this weekend.... Am prob not going to go overboard this time like last.

UCM · 11/11/2006 08:04

Ooooo Glad someone started this thread. I have been a bit lax with this due to SPD, not getting out to get any more booze blah blah. But I would say a tablespoon of stuff eveyr 2/3 weeks will be wunnerful and on the cake too!!!!!

UCM · 11/11/2006 08:06

Or weekly depending on how boozy you want it to be. I really don't think it matters much as long as there is not too much booze to drown the cake.

ludaloo · 11/11/2006 08:11

oooh I have a question too re feeding the cake..
I made it with whiskey...and fed it the remains of the bottle over a month or so...the whiskey has all gone...but we have sherry..
Will it taste awful if I mix the booze?

TIA
