I think at 5, I'd just make sure it didn't have additives, including aspartame (which is IMO WAY worse than added sugar) in it. So for squash, Rocks is brilliant. And for juice, I'd go for any pure juice (I know not from concentrate is supposed to be better, but it's soo dear and we all have to draw our own lines). Mind you, DS generally just gets water, although I gave him some very diluted smoothie yesterday and he looked as though he'd gone to heaven!

Do you mean juice or squash? I wouldn't do squash at all if you can avoid it at this age. Go for any fresh juice (make sure it says"juice" not "juice drink" or it'll have sugar and other addetives in it). But really the best drink for them is boring old water. I bought a packet of mini sports Sponge Bob sports bottles and refill them (tight, moi??)
Juice for breakfast and a carton in lunchboxes, water practically all the rest of the time.

corrie-with you on aspartame but why silute smoothie? I thought that was good for them-yoghurt and bananas and fruit. Actually better than juice, surely?
