Rice - White or coloured

I am making a batch of curry & rice to freeze for my DS. I know it is easy to colour rice with turmeric or saffron, but which do find is most appealing for your DS or DD? Should I leave it plain or is he more likely to want to eat it if it is yellow? He is 3.

I like the idea of coloured rice, I have not thought of doing that. Having not tried it, I don't know if it encourages them to eat rice. Would be interested to know if it makes a difference as my DD can be fussy with rice.

My two like brown rice or the mix of white and wild rice.
You could also try the red rice which most supermarkets stock now.

My DS is 3 and likes coloured rice and plain rice, so try them both. Just don't make the mistake I made once and add too much turmeric, it has a bitter taste! Safron gives a more subtle flavour but still not liked by all. A finely grated carrot added at the begining of cooking turns the rice a nice yellow colour too and adds some hidden veg!

my dts liek rice pudding with saffron added.

the older two eat it with peas and cumin. they seem to love the cumin flavour and it means I don't have to put any salt in it.
